The Village of Woodridge held their Board Meeting on February 5 to discuss an omnibus agenda as well as recognize Officer James Guerra, Employee of the Year 2014, and Mary Jane Munley, newly appointed Board of Police Commissioners. Among the topics of the night’s agenda were the 83rd Street Bridge and the traffic signals at 71st Street that need improvements.

Everybody recognizes the speech. It starts with four words and is a frequently repeated phrase through its entirety. While “I Have A Dream” wasn’t Martin Luther King Jr.’s only speech, it was a piece of rhetoric that is still taught in schools presently. Repetition in speeches wasn’t originated by Dr. King but is still held in a high regard by his predecessors, including Dr. Cornel West.

Lisle Mayor Joe Broda delivered the annual State of the Village address on Jan. 22 during a Chamber luncheon hosted by the Hilton Lisle-Naperville. The mayor spoke of accomplishments, improvements and developments that helped the city grow in 2014.
